I like the clips on your site. I think I would like to have you make some tracks for me. What do I need to do next?

If possible, make a recording of some kind. It does not have to be a high quality recording. Most people just sing along with a guitar or piano, and make and MP3 and email it to me. There is no charge at his point.

OK, I’m getting ready to send the mp3…what else do you need?

Some people know exactly what they want as far as style, instrumentation, arrangement…etc. Some people prefer that I use my own judgment and make the track based on what I think would sound good. If you have any ideas on these matters, please let me know at this point.

For example, you might want a bluegrass feel to your music with a banjo sound. Or, you might prefer more contemporary sounding music. You might like big orchestration, or you might just want piano, bass, and drums. It’s OK if you don’t know…but please let me know if you have a particular direction you want to go with the song.

At this point, I will take your ideas, and come up with a synopsis of what direction we will go. If you want to proceed, I will ask for a 50% deposit (usually $50.00), and we’ll get started. I might request a lead sheet if you have one, or even sheet music, but usually I will be able to work with your recording. When finished, I can provide an mp3 for your approval, and request the balance if the fee.

How long will it take?

Well, it depends. I do not do rush jobs since the quality suffers. But usually one to two weeks should be plenty of time. I work by myself, so sometimes I get busy and cannot turn your tracks around as fast as would like. If this is the case, I will advise you.

I have lyrics to a song I wrote…can you put music to it?

Well, I could, but that would make me co-writer. This is an entirely different service. Please email me and let’s discuss.

I want to do a popular gospel song, but the commercial track is not in my key. Can you make a track with fits my vocal ability and range?

Absolutely! This is one of the great things about having a custom made track. You might want to do a tune a little faster…make the style a little suited for your voice, and of course, lower the key.

Can I use tracks I bought from you to make a CD?

Sure! You own the track. If you did not write the song, you are responsible for mechanical and songwriting royalties. But the fee you pay me for making the track gives you unlimited usage.

My tracks are studio ready. I apply eq, effects, and compression so that all you do is take it to the studio and sing with it.

Note: I would be honored if you credit me on your CD, but you are under  no obligation to do so.

What equipment do you use to make tracks?

I use Steinberg’s Cubase SX for tracking your song. I play each part onto a different track…For sounds, I typically use Gigastudio. I have a large library of sounds, and Gigastudio’s library is considered the most comprehensive and best sounding in the industry. I mix everything down to a stereo wav file, and burn to a CD or Minidisk.

I use modern 24 bit digital audio for masters, which gives a realisitic, pristine sound.

Sometimes I like to play along with the track. Can you remove the guitar?

No problem. As a matter of fact all my tracks include one extra mix. Just let me know which instrument you want removed.

Hopefully this answered most of your questions. If not, just send me an email.

Let's get started!
